If there is one thing you can count on here at RAMAB, it’s that we will bring you objective and fair reviews of movies AND (most importantly) that we will hardly give you those reviews on time!! That’s right folks, we bring forth a veritable grab bag of new reviews for your perusal and possibly, but hopefully not, refusal. If science fiction is your game, then we got it with the Smith clan’s futuristic bio-pic of future world domination: After Earth! Oh yea, and there’s the sequel to that picture based on some old TV show about a crew of co-ed seamen lost in space or some such….Star Trek Into Darkness. Fancy your flicks deep, thought-provoking, and touchy feely?? Then you should try the Independent Film Channel. But if you like that and have a thing for capes, you could peep our recommendation for a pretty sweet and action packed indy flick; the true life story of the Daredevil: Super. But if it’s more of a family friendly review you seek, than look no further than the hidden gem buried deep within the bowels of this movie review laden cornucopia! What is this instant classic and follow-up to that nonexistent Degrassi High feature-length rom-com?!? Clearly its Monsters University!! So go ahead, get wrist deep in this lovely, brown sack and pull out a glorious review. And check out the Our Takes page for the full list of our reviews to date!!
In case you hadn’t jumped onto the bandwagon during that special time when comic book movies were in that silver, pre-Avengers, pre-Dark Knight age, then you may have missed a few gems from ‘back in the day’. Namely I speak of Sin City!! Based on the amazing Frank Miller series and directed by renaissance man Robert Rodriguez, this flick changed the game for this genre before some of you even knew the game was being played. The news that he has decide to return, with much of the original cast, to the material is exciting in of itself (yay, more Rosario!!) and this little teasing pic of what’s to come makes it that much more exciting!! Thank the make for Twitter that allows one to follow the genius of aRobert Rodriguez as well as feeling a connection to fit and talented birds I’d never have a shot at like Tricia Helfer!! But, I digress, @Rodriguez tweeted the Ridiculously Awesome pic below that makes me wanna pop in that Sin City dvd and watch that joint…..TONYGHT!!!!!
Hey there true believers, with the Avengers literally just hours away prepare yourselves for an onslaught of Marvel movie marathon madness!! In case you haven’t figured it out kids, we here at RAMAB are embarrassingly excited for the coming of the Avengers. So, in celebration and to flaunt our geek-dom proudly on our sleeves, we will be bringing you a series of reviews leading up to our review of the Avengers on Monday. Going through the line-up, you will get: Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and finally the Avengers!! So hold on tight and get ready for the most fun filled experience this side of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride!!!
Confirmation at last!! I saw here on IGN that, finally, Sin City 2 is going to happen. Robert Rodriguez (one of the most impressive people I wish I knew!!) states he will begin casting and filming the sequel to his widely successful and imitated graphic novel adaptation, Sin City, after he finishes Machete Kills, the sequel to his Grindhouse spin-off Machete from 2010. If any of you cats know anything about this Sin City thing, this is pretty exciting news. I sadly missed the first movie in theatres but once I saw it, I was hooked! Seeing the movie inspired me to promptly read all of the books and it’s been rumoured for a while that the sequel would be based on A Dame To Kill For, the second book in the series and my favourite, and now that it’s been confirmed; über-excited doesn’t quite cover it! But now the important bit.
Why do I feel like I haven’t seen Rosario Dawson in forever??!!! I remember the days of going to the movies and seeing her in what would be, and were clearly at the time, cult classics such as Clerks II, Grindhouse: Death Proof, and Sin City. And, of course, she was in some big and important movies before and since that time, but why do I feel like I haven’t really seen her in a few years. So she does Seven Pounds, which I still haven’t seen, and Unstoppable, both we all can agree was a good move. Then she was in such hits as Zookeeper and the Percy Jackson movie!! And then….. Is she the victim of a career going down the drain due to a few flops. I won’t go so far as to pass that judgement, but my point is I miss her (because I wish I knew her too!!). Its great to see that she will be reprising her role for Sin City 2 and hopefully this will be a start to seeing her on a normal basis again!! (relatively speaking of course)
